Jaro Egbo Holds Security Stakeholders Meeting With The Seven Kingdoms Representatives Of The Local Government Area..
.. Charged Community Leaders to collaborate with the Government in combating sales of illicit drugs, child prostitution, and the revamping and maintenance of Healthcare centers in their communities, as he also reiterates commitment to maintaining a crime-free and healthy Ughelli North.
The Executive Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Council, Olorogun (Barr) Jaro Movudu Egbo Ksc, held a security stakeholders meeting with representatives of the seven kingdoms in Ughelli North, namely, Ughelli Kingdom, Agbarha Otor Kingdom, Ogor Kingdom, Agbarho Kingdom, Orogun Kingdom, Evwreni Kingdom, and Uwheru Kingdom. The meeting aims to address the ravaging of sales of illicit drugs in our communities, Child prostitution, and the non-collaboration of Community stakeholders in maintaining the Healthcare centers in their domains, among other matters.
Olorogun Jaro Egbo while giving his address, noted that the rate at which people are going into the business of sales of hard drugs in our communities, child's trafficking, prostitution for money making purposes if not addressed, will degenerate to something worse in the future, he stress that all hands must be on deck to fight against these social vices that is damaging the future of our youths.
.. The resultant effect of hard drug usage is robbery, kidnapping, raping, and other criminal activities, and the result is madness and even death of the victim. This will not be allowed to destroy our wards and relatives," the Chairman stated.
Olorogun Jaro Egbo disclosed that the Local Government Council will set up a Special Taskforce on illicit drugs and human trafficking to checkmate and arrest those involved in the sales of illicit drugs in our communities, he noted that the committee will comprise of representatives from each Kingdom of the local government area, representative of all the security agencies including the NDLEA, Nigeria Police, DSS, SID, Civil Defense, Immigration etc. He charged themhe community Leaders to go back to their various kingdoms to hold stakeholders meetings with the known drug dealers and hoteliers who are the major culprits, and advise them to desist from such illegal businesses.
Similarly, Barr Jaro Egbo also, expressed his displeasure over the attitudes of some community leadership towards the management of the healthcare centers in their domains, he noted that Ughelli North has the highest numbers of Healthcare centers in the entire state, adding that he has gone round to inspect the Health centers and has noticed the abandonment by some communities, while some others, converted the facilities for personal used, this he said will not be tolerated anymore.
He urged the various community leaders to collaborate with the local government Council by supporting and protecting government facilities in their domain, adding that any community that refuses to support the Government's efforts in maintaining Healthcare centers, such facility will be shut down by December 2025.
The Council Boss reaffirmed his dedication to maintaining a healthier community for all and promoting a crime-free Ughelli North for all residents "If Ughelli North is not peaceful, I will not be at rest," Egbo reassured.
Other members of the kingdom's delegation include Secretaries, woman leaders, youth leaders, and representatives of the Kings from all seven (7) Kingdoms respectively.
Principal Council officials present during the meeting include the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon Pastor Goodluck Irikefe Unuavworho, Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Prince Elvis Oharisi, Supervisory Councilors, Principal Secretary to the Chairman, Olorogun Fidelis Erhiurhore, Officer in Charge of Peace and Security, Mr Godwin Onovweghware, Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Mr Efe Ekete, PRO Ughelli North Local Government Council, Mrs Anna Inana, among others.
