Earlier today, the Executive Chairman, Ughelli North Local Government Council, Olorogun (Barr) Jaro Movudu Egbo Ksc, received the organizers of 'The Verified Ughelli Trade fair " led by the CEO/ President of the group, Lady Tamara Alla.
While introducing the delegation to the Council Chairman, Ms Tamara Alla stated that the reason for their visit was to inform the Council Chairman about the second edition of the Trade Fair coming up in November 2025 and to seek his support and collaboration in ensuring that this year's edition is massive and well-organized.
"The reason for this trade fair is for vendors to come together to sell their goods and services, and to also encourage our vendors from other places to participate," Tamara explained.
Responding, Barr Jaro Egbo, thanked the group for the visit and for developing a noble initiative such as this, aimed at promoting businesses and commerce in Ughelli North Local Government Area.
The Chairman stated that one of the primary functions of a government is to ensure that people live better than they did when a particular government took charge, and one of the ways of getting that done is through the creation of an enabling environment for businesses to thrive through promoting business, commerce, and industry. He assured them of the Council's support to ensure that the program is successful.
He encouraged the organizers to bring in all kinds of vendors to participate in the Trade Fair, thereby showcasing our locally made products that are produced in Ughelli North LGA, such as Garri, starch, groundnut, potatoes, and our Indigenous culinary items being sold at the venue.
" I really think our Trade Fair should be given enough publicity, it shouldn't just be about fabrics and sale of hairs alone, because many people are more concerned about what to eat now, i expect a Trade- Fair where you will see our own indigenous culinary, where we can get Ekwoka (Maise cake), Ohwo esha (Beans Soup), akara, buns, etc"
..We will also bring in our women from our wards, we are best producers of groundnut in Uwheru Kingdom, we have the best garri, we have starch, we have dried fish, we have fresh fishes, we have bush meats, these are the things that should feature in a Trade Fair, Not just Fabric" the Chairman added
The Council Boss graciously approved the venue for them free of charge and also allowed them to continue contributing their quotas to the local government business-wise, and promised to collaborate, mobilize, and support the program.
